About Sonya Singh

Sonya Singh is a bestselling author, screenwriter and communications leader based in Toronto. Her bestselling debut novel, Sari, Not Sari, introduced readers to her signature blend of humour, heart and South Asian representation.

She has signed a two-book deal with Doubleday Canada for her upcoming novels, The Fake Matchmaker (publishing March 2026) and Indian Summer. Expanding beyond books, Sonya is writing for film and television. Her holiday feature, is in development with Muse Entertainment.

Sonya’s work spans romance, comedy, drama and thriller, with an emphasis on smart, heartfelt storytelling. Some of her favourite series include Bria Mack Gets a Life, Shelved, Sisters, Run the Burbs, Children Ruin Everything, Robyn Hood and Sullivan’s Crossing.

Alongside her creative work, Sonya brings more than 15 years of experience in strategic communications, media and public relations. She is passionate about amplifying diverse voices, building authentic stories and championing representation in publishing and on screen.
